Enjoy the Flavors of Salem – Spring Restaurant Week is Back!

SALEM248_Restaurant_Week_Winter_Cinema_Salem_SlideThe Salem Chamber of Commerce is set to celebrate the thriving culinary scene in Salem with Salem Spring Restaurant Week. Spring Restaurant Week gives customers a chance to reconnect with their favorite restaurant or try some place new. Restaurant Week features 20 of Salem’s best restaurants and draws guests from all over the North Shore. “I think the coolest thing about Restaurant Week is that it stimulates the city and creates exposure for all restaurants, perhaps even to clientele who wouldn’t normally give that particular restaurant a try,” said Daniel Giddings, General Manager, Opus. “We are really looking forward to being a part of it.”

Now in its 8th year, the ten day event will begin on Sunday, March 16th and run through Thursday, March 20th. The event will start again on Sunday, March 23rd and finish on Thursday, March 27th. Participating Salem restaurants will offer either a prix-fixe two-course dinner menu for $18 or a prix-fixe three-course dinner menu for $28. Some restaurants will offer both course options. Prices are per person and exclude beverages, tax, and gratuity.

Salem Fall Restaurant Week – Welcome Back Residents!

ImageThe Salem Chamber of Commerce is set to welcome residents back to the Salem restaurant scene with Salem Fall Restaurant Week. Fall Restaurant Week gives customers a chance to dine-out at 22 of Salem’s best restaurants offering two and/or three course dinners at value pricing.

Now in its 7th year, the ten day event will run Sunday, November 3rd through Thursday, November 7th and Sunday, November 10th through Thursday, November 14th. Participating Salem restaurants will offer either a prix-fixe two-course dinner menu for $18 or a prix-fixe three-course dinner menu for $28. Some restaurants will offer both course options. Prices are per person and exclude beverages, tax, and gratuity. Please be sure to check www.salem-chamber.org for menus and offerings for each restaurant.

New to Salem, three restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week for the first time: Firenze Trattoria, Flying Saucer Pizza Company, and Opus. All three are looking forward to featuring their menus to new and returning customers. Chef Zamir Kociaj, owner of Firenze Trattoria, expressed his excitement for Restaurant Week stating, “I’m looking forward to introducing my restaurant and cuisine to the neighborhood and city during Restaurant Week. As a new business it is important to make a good first impression and we plan to do so during Restaurant Week.”

Salem Restaurant Week Set to Kick-off Sunday March 17th!

Participating Salem restaurants will offer either a prix-fixe two-course dinner menu for $15 or a prix-fixe three-course dinner menu for $25. Some restaurants will offer both course options. Salem mainstay Capt.’s Waterfront Grill & Pub is using Restaurant Week to offer customers an exciting new taste, French cuisine! For Restaurant Week, Capt,’s French themed menu features dishes like “Escargot dans le Pain” sautéed snails in a white wine sauce, “Saumon” pan roasted salmon, and other French delights. “Café Polonia” and “Victoria Station & Vic’s Boathouse” Restaurant Week Preview

In October of 2010 Café Polonia opened its second location in the historical downtown area of Salem, Massachusetts. The restaurant features an expanded menu with German, Hungarian and Eastern European specialties as well as a German style outdoor “bier garten,” or beer garden. While Café Polonia is best known for home style comfort food, the restaurant’s features also include a cozy décor reminiscent of a country cottage in Poland’s mountain region and superb guest service. I really enjoy sitting on the patio on a nice day with one of their Margaritas. I’ve tried several things on the menu. My favorite -although it was a special- would be the pulled pork sliders. The Great Escape Restaurant located in historic downtown Salem, MA has a unique history; it is located in a former jail! Great Escape Restaurant opened in 2010 and features a menu created by Chef Fredie Barbosa. The restaurant was designed with a jail theme featuring brick walls, the original two foot thick granite floor, a bar made out of recycled cell doors, and cell bars all around to enhance guests’ dining experience. Located in Lyceum Hall in the historic downtown district, 43 Church graces the cobblestone streets of Salem in a building with a lot of history. Lyceum Hall served as Salem’s community lecture hall, where ideas and debates on politics, society, technology and science flourished. 43 Church serves refined New England Fare featuring locally sourced ingredients with an active Gastropub lounge scene– a restaurant that serves truly great food and lets it speak for itself. You can check out 43 Church’s menu here but if you take J.W. B’s word for it, “Went during our annual Halloween trip to Salem. Food was amazing. Price was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was warm and cozy while maintaining a mildly upper-class aesthetic. Good beer list. I highly recommend the poached pear salad”. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, we are sure that you will enjoy your meal.

Howling Wolf Taqueria is an authentic Mexican and Southwestern taqueria serving New Mexican inspired cuisine. Located at 76 Lafayette Street in historic Salem, Massachusetts, they are on the corner of New Derby & Lafayette, across from the Salem fire station.
